COVID-19 RE-OPENING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR
DISCOVER FITNESS/DISCOVER PERFORMANCE INC.
This document is a living road map of what we see as we near closer to reopening our facilities. We are releasing policies without concrete provincial/municipal direction at this point – so this document serves as a draft of several policies and procedures we have begun to put into place and have operational when we are legally able to open our facility.
1. WHO IS ALLOWED IN THE FACILITY?
When Discover Fitness/ Discover Performance (DF/DP) reopens, it will be exclusively to 12-month membership holders who have kept their memberships active during COVID-19, as well as any members who joined our facility during the shut-down. The facility will only be accessible to FOB-carrying members. We will not be permitting drop-ins, day pass holders or new members upon initial reopening. This will better position us to keep the environment controlled and safer for staff and members.
2. WHEN AND HOW CAN I ACCESS THE GYM?
We are currently working on an online booking service where members will have to pre-book their visits to the facility. There will be a duration attached to the visits as well as maximum number of occupants at a time allowed in the facility.
3. HOW WILL WE ENSURE SOCIAL DISTANCING AT THE FACILITY?
While closed, we have taken the time to work on a COVID-19 social distancing floor plan. This plan will distance clients apart (2 meters) as well as have strong visuals put in place for distancing measures on the floor as well in the studio classes.
4. WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AS A CLIENT?
As clients, you will work along side our efforts to keep everyone safe. You must clean your equipment (all equipment) before and after use. You will remain 2 meters apart from all other members or staff. You will come to the gym with your gym clothes on, in efforts to minimize the use of the changerooms and washrooms during the initial start up phase. You will pre-book your time in the facility. You must bring clean gym shoes and not use shoes that have been worn outside of the gym. You will not be permitted to enter the gym if you are showing signs of malaise or general unwellness.
5. WHAT WILL THE GYM LOOK LIKE?
The gym has been re-organized to respect social distancing. We have added many more hand sanitization stations throughout the gym. Desk will not be operational during first phase and any questions must be directed through our website contact form at discoverfitness.ca. The use of fans will not be permitted. Areas to distance clients have been marked off and are highly visible. Additional services such as tanning and desk will be opened in future phases and not in phase one.
We would like to thank you all for your continued support and look forward to welcoming you all back - safely. We will need to work as a team – staff and clients – to ensure all policies and procedures are followed and respected.
Yours in health,
Lisa Tremblay and Kate Durst , Owners
